EAGLES TEAMS WIN PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Four Eastern Eagles teams won Provincial Gold Medals over the past few days. U14 Boys Premier and U14 Boys First Division, U14 Girls First Division and U16 Boys First Division all came away with Provincial championship trophies.

Four Eastern Eagles teams won Provincial Gold Medals over the past few days. 

U14 Boys Premier and U14 Boys First Division, U14 Girls First Division and U16 Boys First Division all came away with Provincial championship trophies.

On Saturday, August 24th the U14 Boys First Division team defeated Eliot River 3-1 to win the championship at the Eagles Complex. Goals were scored by Matt Macdonald, Dawson Chatman and Ryan Bowley.

Also on Saturday at the Eagles Complex, the U14 Girls First Division team defeated Eliot River 2-0 to win the chamionship. Goals were scored by Savannah Vandenberghe and Grace Peardon and the shutout was recorded by Abigail Munro. The girls had to get past two undefeated teams to win the chamionship. This is the 4th year in a row that the U14 Girls have reached the Championship Final with two Gold and two Silver medals over this period.

The U16 Boys First Division team followed up impressive gold medals at the Winsloe / Charlottetown and Eastern Eagles tournaments with the Provincial championship, also on Saturday at the Eastern Eagles Complex. The score was 4-2 over Stratford. Goal scorers were Michael Vanderzwaag 2, Drew Christensen and Brooks Roche. 

On Monday, August 26th, the U14 Boys Premier team managed their 3rd straight upset victory to take the Challenge Cup over RC United. The final score was 3-2 with the game being decided by penalty kicks. Goals scorers were David Vanderzwaag and Zach Lund. The Eagles team finished the regular season in 6th place and had to win against Summerside and Winsloe / Charlottetown on the road to get to the championship game. They will be representing PEI in the National Chamionships in Lethbridge Alberta in October.
